Sustainable CAPE CENTER for AGRICULTURAL PRESERVATION & EDUCATION
On Giving Tuesday, Chatham Bars Inn presented Sustainable CAPE - Center for Agricultural Preservation & Education with a generous donation. The award is in recognition of Sustainable CAPE's work in supporting the local food system and combating food insecurity in Barnstable County.
"We are honored to collaborate with Chatham Bars Inn, a longtime partner. Together we work to uplift families in the community and support each other through local food and farming. We look forward to amplifying these collaborations, and are immensely grateful for their generosity," says Sustainable CAPE Founding Director Francie Randolph.
Chatham Bars Inn, Conde Nast's #1 Resort in New England for 2024, hosted an October Fall Frolic at Chatham Bars Inn Farm, donating ticket profits to Sustainable CAPE's programs. At the Fall Frolic, the community gathered to enjoy local produce and various fall-themed activities.
Families toured the farm, sampled fresh fare, and learned about local food production. The Fall Frolic closely aligns with Sustainable CAPE's mission to celebrate local food while educating about the health of our bodies, community and environment. The donation serves to strengthen these fundamental, shared values.
Chatham Bars Inn Farm is a valuable collaborator in Sustainable CAPE's Food is Medicine program. Referred by physicians, Sustainable CAPE delivers medically tailored produce from local farms to chronically ill community members. "We are thankful for Sustainable CAPE's business and are pleased to strengthen this community work of delivering fresh, healthful food to neighbors in need. In addition, Sustainable CAPE's work directly supports local businesses," shares Courtney Lowe, Vice President of Marketing & Business Development, Chatham Bars Inn.
Randolph adds, "We appreciate all that Chatham Bars Inn does to help us support food insecure neighbors and local farmers at the same time. It’s a win-win solution; working together to provide healthful food and strengthen our community is at the root of our collaborative work.”
