Chatham Bars Inn Welcomes Michael Briggs as Managing Director
Chatham, MA (July 16, 2024) – Today, Chatham Bars Inn, Cape Cod’s storied oceanfront luxury resort for over a century, announces the appointment of Michael Briggs as Managing Director. A proverbial homecoming, Briggs returns to the Forbes Five-Star resort with familiarity, as he previously held various leadership positions at Chatham Bars Inn for nearly a decade.

An industry veteran boasting 25 years of management and luxury brand experience, Briggs joins Chatham Bars Inn following his time as Regional Managing Director at Olympia Hospitality. During this time, Briggs oversaw Maine’s Inn by the Sea in addition to supporting the group’s growth of independent inns throughout New England. From 2016 to 2024, Briggs oversaw Inn by the Sea as Managing Director and General Manager, leading the property to achieve prominent accolades within the likes of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Beyond Green Hotels, Virtuoso, Signature Travel Network, AAA Diamond awards, TripAdvisor and more. Previously, Briggs successfully led teams at Chatham Bars Inn as Resort Manager, Director of Rooms and Director of Front Office from 2006 to 2016.
Briggs is a graduate of the Roger A. Saunders School of Hotel & Restaurant Management at Newbury College, where he nourished an early passion for the hospitality industry. Briggs’ demonstrated wider hospitality-adjacent work beyond hotels and deeply immersed himself in his community. He actively maintains his role as a board member for four hospitality associations, including New England Inns and Resorts Association. Briggs also served on several advisory committees from educational institutions like Southern Maine Community College to world-renowned Preferred Hotels & Resorts. Michael, along with his wife, Amy, and their two children are very much looking forward to coming back to Massachusetts and rejoining the Chatham and Cape Cod communities that they love so much.
